What is the Bootblack Toronto Contest?
Bootblack Toronto is one of North America’s premier bootblack contests. The contest is held during Toronto Leather Pride Weekend during the second weekend of August. The Bootblack Toronto contest can be challenging, but the opportunities for personal growth are tremendous. The rewards of both competing and winning are a life experience.
Who can enter?
The competition is open to people of all genders. You must be:
- a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant
- twenty-one years or older
- living in the Greater Toronto Area (within a two hour commute of downtown Toronto)
Enjoy the benefits of competing
The winner gets:
- Bootblack / Fetish / Kink Fellowship: Opportunities to share ideas and experiences with diverse segments of our community, and a chance to meet fellow bootblack’s throughout North America;
- Local Involvement: An opportunity to contribute not only to the Bootblack / Leather / Fetish / Kink community, but to the ENTIRE community. Together Bootblack Toronto, Mr. Rubber Toronto and Mr. Leatherman Toronto select and fund-raise for their designated charity. Keep an eye open for notices in local bars and businesses. View the events calendar.
- Personal Growth and Fun: Opportunities to explore your inner-self, and learn about the community of bootblack, leather/ fetish / kink folk. Ask former contestants. They agree that the fellowship and good times far outweigh the time commitment.
- Bootblack / Leather / Fetish / Kink folk from across North America attend the Toronto Leather Pride Weekend to see YOU. As a contestant you are in a favoured position to make new acquaintances and friends.
- Bootblack Toronto has the opportunity to compete at the International Ms. Bootblack, (held in San Francisco in Early April) or International Mr. Bootblack (held in Chicago in late May) or at a regional contest.
- As the new BBT titleholder you and the Mr. Rubber Toronto and Mr. Leatherman Toronto titleholder will equally represent Toronto’s Bootblack / Leather / Rubber / Fetish / Kink community at local, national, and international events.

Preparation for the Contest
Preparation for BBT begins a few weeks before the contest and includes coaching sessions, an orientation session, photo shoots and kick off parties etc. A time commitment is required on the part of the contestants
- All contestants get:
- the chance to meet with and compete against some of the best bootblacks in our region
- bootblack fellowship
- the fun of participating
- lots of opportunity to shine boots
Concerned about the commitment level? Don’t be! As the current Booblack Toronto you will only have to participate in one TLP event, on average, per month! The rest of your title year is up to you.
If you win?
You will represent Toronto’s Bootblack / Leather / Fetish / Kink / Community both locally and elsewhere. There will be plenty of opportunities to shine boots at local and out-of-town venues. You will be expected to participate in fundraising events, where all proceeds go to a worthy cause chosen by you, the new Mr. Rubber Toronto and the new Mr. Leatherman Toronto. On other occasions, you will also be free to work as a professional bootblack while displaying your title with pride.
The person who becomes Bootblack Toronto will represent Toronto’s Bootblack, Leather /Fetish / Kink Community both locally and elsewhere along with Mr. Leatherman Toronto and Mr. Rubber Toronto. The winner of the contest will have the option of going to the International Ms. Bootblack Competition, the International Mr. Bootblack Competition or at a regional title.
If I win, must I compete at IMsBB/IMBB or a regional title?
No. This is not a firm requirement. Bootblack Toronto has the opportunity to compete at IMsBB, IMBB or at a regional contest, and by all accounts from former BBTs competing at either of these contests are a unique life experience, but titleholder can chose not to compete at any of the competitions for reasons that are their own.
You have read this far, so by now you must be wondering: Could I be the next Bootblack Toronto?
