BBT 2013 Judging Panel
HOTF/TLP takes the business of judging the Bootblack Toronto Competition very seriously. We have established a longstanding tradition of building solid, experienced, judging panels each year that include both international, and Canadian judges. The goal is to give Bootblack Toronto contestants a quality of judging equal to the international competition were they might eventually compete.
black, a.k.a. Ian Turner – BBT Head Judge
black, a.k.a. Ian Turner – Bootblack Toronto 2002, is a semi-retired bootblack who lives in Toronto. he is the collared boy of Sir Trooper Long of Detroit, and is dedicated to His pleasure. In addition, black has a Top side. If and when Sir Trooper chooses to turn him loose, Ian the Top is fond of floggers, signal whips, clothespins, abrasion, and other twisted activities.
black has engaged in SM since the mid-1970′s, and became involved in the organized leather community in 1992. He is a member of Delta International, and was on Delta’s Board of Directors for three years, including two years as Chairman. He is an associate member of Chicago Hellfire Club and The 15 Association. He has presented workshops on a variety of topics, including whipping and bootblacking (though not at the same time!). he was Head Judge at the International Community Bootblack 2011 Contest.
In 1998, black received the Courtlan Forsey Memorial Award. In 2001, he won the Canadian Award at Pantheon of Leather. In 2002, he became the first Bootblack Toronto titleholder. In June 2007 at the Eastern Canada LeatherSIR/Leatherboy contest, he was awarded the first ECLS/b Community Builder Award. In May 2008, he served as a judge at the International Mr. Leather Contest. In November 2010, he was given David Galbraith Award.
Lamalani – International Ms Leather 2009
Lamalani – International Ms Leather 2009 hails from Seattle and held the titles of Washington State Ms Leather 2008 and International Ms Leather 2009. She has been active in the leather community since 1999. Professionally, Lamalani makes hemp bondage rope with Twisted Monk. She has had the honor of judging contests such as International Community Bootblack, International Ms Leather, Northwest Leather Sir/boy & Community Bootblack, Mr. & Ms. Oregon State Leather, Oklahoma Mr. Leather, Mr. Boston Leather, San Francisco Leather Daddy, Mr and Ms Texas Leather, Mr. Mid-Atlantic Leather, Washington State Mr/Ms Leather, Mid Atlantic Leather Family, American Brotherhood Weekend and Ms. San Francisco Leather contests. She is an enthusiastic practitioner of rope bondage, fire play and roughhousing. Lamalani is a boylesque performer, motorcyclist and percussionist.
slave-boy jake English – BBT 2011
slave-boy jake’s involvement in the leather community has spanned over thirty years. he has served our community in many ways, but is particularly proud of his role as Bootblack Toronto, which allowed him to publicly share his passion for boots, bootblacking and leather care.
Over the years, slave-boy jake has volunteered and fundraised for many of Toronto’s AIDS service agencies. he enjoys bootblacking throughout the year at the Black Eagle Toronto, as of member of Heart of the Flag Federation, Spearhead LDSC Toronto and previously at the Eastern Canada LeatherSIR and Leatherboy “Rough House” events.
he wishes to continue to serve and represent our community as a positive role model, the best bootblack possible, and by providing continuing education to the Leather/Bootblack community.
slave-boy jake is a service-oriented, heavy submissive player who enjoys CBT, discipline and boot stomping.
Q – International Ms. Bootblack 2008
Q – International Ms. Bootblack 2008, easily recognized by his blonde mohawk, is a two-time award winning bootblack and internationally recognized presenter both within and outside of the leather community. An activist for more than 15 years, Q has consistently made efforts to bring together the various communities to which he belongs. Although now a wuzzy, Q is not resting on his laurels. He continues to seek avenues to actively serve as a bridge for our community’s kinky youth and more established members, as well as those outside of our community, whenever possible. His most recent journey into queer adult cinema with Crashpad is providing him with an avenue to continue our community’s rich tradition of education while using a more modern, (and let’s be honest) sexy medium. It is well known that flirting is Q’s default mode of communication. He can often be found with a charming smile on his face or looking mischievous with the other bois. On rare-ish occasions this boi might even be found dancing on a table for the right amount of money…for charity of course!
Bootblack buddy aka Jacques Coetzer – FFBB 2011 – BBT Tally Master
buddy aka Jacques Coetzer is a native South African, who arrived in Canada in 1998 and proudly became a Canadian Citizen in June 2004. buddy was introduced to bootblacking by his leather family. This enabled buddy to rediscover his love for bootblacking, a skill obtained during his military service in the South African Air Force.
