Sandman – ACT Bootblack

For several years now I have been active in the Leather Community competing in MLTC Inc. and CSFF Bootblack events. As well as raising money by bootblacking for ACT at Fetish nights as NORTHBOUND’s Annual event at the waterfront. Over the last 8 years I have volunteered at the AIDS Committee of Toronto in various capacities. Enjoyable service duties have included Security duties at the AIDS Walk, Fashion Cares, SNAP, the Pride Parade and other fund raising functions. Additionally as a Gay Men’s Outreach Volunteer interacting with the Community in general. In the realm of bootblacking past endeavors have always brought me into contact with lots of interesting fellow Kinksters.

Bootblacking is in my blood being the son of a former WW2 New Zealand LRDG Gunnery Sergeant. He started me off at a tender age in the art of polishing. Since then the pathway of learning to polish has been bumpy but intrinsically enjoyable. OK it seems I am part Bulldog too. I don’t give up easily once my jaw locks on. Bootblacking in the past has always has been a learning experience and always will be in the future. Short bow from the waist, at your service.

Shane – Northbound Leather Bootblack

Shane is Northbound Leather Bootblack 2012 – the first bootblack ever appointed by Northbound. After attending a workshop 2 years ago, Shane became enamoured with bootblacking. Looking back, he has come to realize that this was an interest that was waiting to be brought out. He has fond memories of watching his father polish boots and spent 13 years working for a boot manufacturer. During the day, Shane is a web designer and usability specialist for a global investment company. He lives in Toronto with his boyfriend Joshua.
